Major shipping company Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced that its latest 14,000 TEU megaship ONE GRUS has been successfully delivered at Japan Marine United Corporation’s Kure Shipyard.
The vessel is ONE’s first delivery of 2019 following the completion of ONE COLUMBA in November 2018, and is decked in the carrier’s signature magenta colour.
ONE GRUS also employs a hull form that minimizes engine-room space to improve efficiency in cargo-loading, while the vessel’s crack arrest technology ensures the highest standard of structural safety.
In addition to this, the vessel is able to leverage “dual rating system” technology in its main diesel engine, allowing for flexible shipping operations, boosting fuel efficiency and decreasing the emission of greenhouse gases significantly.
In terms of the navigation bridge, ONE has adopted an Integrated Navigation System (INS) to consolidate the functions of various vessel systems, therefore reducing the workload of operators.
The crew of the ship will also be aided by a wide window that offers greater visibility from the wing of the vessel’s bridge during berthing and unberthing.
ONE has stated that GRUS will phase into THE Alliance’s Asia to Europe 5 (FE5) service, visiting port destinations in Singapore, Rotterdam, Hamburg and Southampton.
